join hands with Bangladesh

24 April 2014 will be the anniversary of the collapse of the Rana Plaza factory collapse in Bangladesh, when almost 1,200 workers lost their lives, 2,000 were seriously injured and 800 children were left orphaned.

The ILO and global unions created the Rana Plaza Trust Fund, for companies affected to pay compensation to the victims and their families. £24m was planned for but one year after the disaster, £14.9 million still needs to be raised.

Shamefully some companies that were in the Rana Plaza factory still haven’t paid into the fund.

One year on, unions and campaigners are calling on companies to take responsibility for supporting their workers. Can you help build pressure on those who haven’t paid up and show that we remember those who lost their lives at Rana Plaza, by joining the chain for Bangladesh.
